To get you started, see below for some of our favorite stops near the Inn. But remember, this is only a small sample of the many, many places you can explore. The options for filling your days are truly endless.

Our Favorite Wineries*

Jen found her way to the Finger Lakes on a pursuit to learn wine making, and more specifically, to experience a wine harvest. After two harvest seasons and a winter in the vineyard, she did learn a thing or two, and definitely appreciates the wine she drinks and shares with her guests even more than before. More importantly, over that time she fell in love with the area and wanted to bring more of her skills to life as she settled in.

Filling these large barrels, called puncheons, with Gamay Noir. The larger volume means that less wine will interact with the neutral oak, giving the wine a softer finish.

Sheldrake Point Winery

Where it all started for Jen in the Finger Lakes. This stunning estate winery has vineyards that gently slope toward the western shores of Cayuga Lake. They specialize in dry reds, dry to semi-dry whites, and dessert styles, including award-winning traditional ice wines. Take a glass and wander down to the water or just bask in the sunshine on the beautiful lawn near the tasting room.

A few other spots to visit on the West Cayuga Wine Trail: Bet the Farm Winery, Hosmer Winery, The Thirsty Owl Wine Company, Buttonwood Grove, and Six Eighty Cellars

Forge Cellars

Visiting this winery is truly a wonderful experience, with its sweeping views of Seneca Lake friedly, welcoming vibe. Drop by and relax in The Salon or reserve a more in-depth tasting in The Summer House. Either way, you’ll enjoy their outstanding bone-dry Rieslings and cool climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Francs.

Other favorites on the East Side of Seneca: Damiani Wine Cellars, Boundary Breaks, Atwater Vineyards(open late), Hazlitt 1852 (for sweet and dry wines), Ryan William Vineyard, and Wagner Vineyards

*A Few Not Wineries

The Finger Lakes really does have so much to offer, that we would be remiss in not mentioning a few spots for those with different tastes. A few favorites in non-wine category: Grist Iron Brewing, Two Goats Brewing, South Hill Cider, and Finger Lakes Distilling

Our Favorite Restaurants

Finger Lakes Cider House

One of the best spots around for lunch or an afternoon snack, hands down. Overlooking Good Life Farm and Cayuga Lake, the Cider House produces over 20 styles of cider from bone-dry Champagne style, to sweeter rosé blends and even an apple brandy called pommeau. The farm-grown lunches are so delicious, especially the rotating dressings for the green salads.

Atlas Bowl

This is a super fun spot just down the road in Trumansburg. They’ve got lots of space to enjoy great pub snacks and specials, amazing cocktails, six bowling lanes (with one candlepin style), and a backyard patio above the creek. Every Wednesday is trivia night with rotating quiz masters, and Thursdays they have local DJs spin records.

Little Venice

Another Trumansburg favorite, Little Venice offers almost anything you could want including homemade pastas, pizza, burgers and sandwiches, and many Italian specialties. But the hidden gem of this place is the glorious salad bar overflowing with delicious options. And if you’re too tired to go out after a day of hiking and tasting, they deliver.

Our Favorite Hikes
