Nestled in the heart of the Finger Lakes, the Black Walnut Inn is a 200-year-old farmhouse that sits near the western slope of Cayuga Lake in the hamlet of Covert. Our four cozy guest rooms were fully renovated in 2020 and provide a wonderful home base for touring the Finger Lakes Wine Trails, hiking the nearby gorges and waterfalls, and enjoying the numerous local farm-to-table restaurants and breweries. Each stay includes a delicious breakfast featuring locally-roasted coffee, homemade baked goods and granola, and farm-fresh seasonal produce. We invite you to make yourself at home and enjoy the sweet life of the Finger Lakes.
Tour.
The Finger Lakes has emerged as one of the most notable US wine regions outside of California, often likened to the Rhine Valley, as well as growing many of the Bordeaux varietals. Beyond the dedicated viticulture that has blossomed in recent decades, local breweries, cideries, and distilleries abound.
Explore.
Spend a peaceful morning hiking through nearby gorge parks and basking in the beauty of breathtaking waterfalls. Swim, paddleboard, kayak, or boat on the nearby lakes. Beyond the natural beauty surrounding the Inn, there are fantastic museums, local shops, and artist studios awaiting your discovery!
